Hi, everyone. It's a good morning from Alice Springs. This is Murray Stewart, your host and presenter. This is episode 954 of Blind Magic in Alice Springs.Fentanyl. Have you heard of it? It's an evil drug. It truly is. My plea to you on this episode is to make yourself aware of the drug fentanyl. Yes, bring yourself up to date. Know what's going on with fentanyl because it is used legally here in Australia in some hospitals. It is a very, very powerful painkiller, but it's highly addictive, extremely addictive. It's many times more powerful than heroin. It's often used in preference to morphine. When I was at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, recovering from quintuple bypass, they administered this drug to me. Fentanyl in America last year killed 80,000 people. It did, 80,000. And to get the bells ringing for you on this one, during the Vietnam War, there were 57,000 people killed. Fentanyl has been responsible for the death of 80,000 people over the past year. It has also become a street drug of choice in America, smuggled in by the drug lords of Mexico in particular.I suffered hallucinations beyond belief. They were vivid. They were nightmarish. They were horror film-like. And they caused a lot of discourse between myself and my visiting friends and my then partner. When I got home and the drug dropped me off, it led to suicidal thoughts, which is how a lot of the victims in America have passed away. The suicide rates in the towns where this drug has become a drug of choice have gone up by multiple hundreds of percent. It's simply an awful drug.So as I said, my plea is that every one of you can get yourself up to date with the drug fentanyl, particularly if you are going to a hospital for elective surgery of any type. I know what I'm going to do if I'm ever offered the drug again. I'm going to run for the hills. There is no way known will I ever allow and give consent to have that drug administered to me ever again. Yeah, not again. Not again. It's simply not going to happen in my lifetime. I won't allow it.Just get yourself up to date, folks. Get yourself up to date. You should never give consent to any drug that you are unsure of or that you feel you need to research further. Of course, often you're not necessarily in control of all of your faculties when you are asked or when you are administered these drugs. I certainly wasn't. No, I was in a lot of pain and a lot of distress. And it was a very urgent and volatile situation. But wow! Did fentanyl have a negative effect on me? Oh, yes, it did. It is a dreadful drug. But as I say, it's not just about fentanyl. It's about any drug that you give consent to. You must be doing it with clear knowledge and clear information. And if you're not sure, ask the questions that need to be asked. Absolutely. It's your body. It's your life. So ask the questions.Okay, folks, I know that that is a bit heavy, but that's my plea today. Ask the questions, do the research. And when it comes to fentanyl, you want to have a very, very good reason as to why you would even consider saying yes, because I certainly will not be saying yes to fentanyl ever again. Over and out everyone that has been episode 954 a blind magic communications production.

Hi everyone. Well, well, it's a big day, so I've got something to sing to you all. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Santa, happy birthday to you. Hey, Santa. Oh, yeah. My beautiful boy turns one today. My beautiful puppy dog. And he means the world to me. He truly does.
So what does Santa do for my life? Well, in my recovery, he has given me great comfort. He has given me someone to return home to when I go to work or indeed if ever I go out. In the night time, I just reach out for him and there he is, right alongside my bed, on his bed. And he has the most beautiful, beautiful fur. He truly does.
Ah, yes, he's extremely loyal. We haven't had one argument, have we, mate, hey? Not one argument. Oh, wow. Lick, lick, lick. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, mate. Yeah. Not one argument have we had and we never will. Will we, mate?
He loves my new lounge. I tell you what, he loves my beautiful new lounge. Anyone would think that he went into Harvey Norman with a credit card in hand and brought it for himself, but wow. He sits there right alongside me on the sofa and yeah, we have little chats, don't we, mate? We have little chats. Yes.
He's a bit of an animal liberationist though. He won't kill any mice. He won't. I think he's chasing them out of the house though. So still got a bit of a problem here in that area, but it's okay. They're under control for now.
Anyway, he's such a wonderful, wonderful puppy dog. I did say in a previous podcast that I so recommend his breed. He is a Maltese Shih Tzu, and wow, they have, as I said, the most amazing temperament, the most amazing fur, and they're just the most amazing indoor dog, which is exactly what I needed, exactly what I wanted, and here he is.
He has an incredible temperament. He's smart, he's independent, so he takes himself outside, brings himself back in. Oh yes, he's amazing. He's the most beautiful. As I said, the fur is so beautiful because it's winter here in Alice Springs now, but when he sits on your feet, it's like you're wearing a pair of boots. Absolutely beautiful.
And he shares his birthday with none other than Clint Eastwood. Oh, yes, Clint Eastwood is 94 today and Santa is one. I think very soon we'll be cutting a cake for him, blowing out a candle, and you'll get it again, mate. Happy birthday again. How about that? You've got to put up with your dad's singing once more.
Anyway, folks, I thought I'd share his birthday with you because you've heard so many great stories about him during these episodes. Oh, well, he wants to get down. I think he's heard Rachel come and he knows that she's got the cake. So I'm going to leave it at that, folks. Happy birthday, dear Santa. S-A-I-N-T-E-R. That has been episode 946 of, and it's been a Blind Magic Communications production.
