Hi everyone, good afternoon, good evening or good morning, wherever you are. I am your presenter and host Murray Stewart. This is Blind Magic in Alice Springs and this is episode 1094.
Whoa, there are some things that are more difficult than others in terms of attending events. I have been in Alice Springs for almost 25 years, and so far I have avoided attending farewells. But I have told you about the transient nature of Alice Springs. Yes, people come and they go. I should therefore be far better at this sort of thing, but no, I still suffer very badly from separation anxiety. I do.
Today will be yet another test. I have decided to go and attend a farewell for a very, very good friend of mine, hence why I have decided to go. Why have I chosen this one over others that I have declined previously? I think it's because our children have grown up together, participated in sport and social activities together, and also myself and this great friend of mine have been through some hard times, and also we've had some great times. So we have definitely experienced the swings and the roundabouts of life together. Hence why I have decided that this is the one that I will attend.
Not going to be easy. No, it's not, but I'm going to do it. And perhaps in achieving this, I will perhaps be able to put a brick in that wall in terms of dealing with separation. I'll tell you what I'm not going to do. I refuse to say goodbye. I do. Because in this day and age, you shouldn't have to say goodbye. With modern technology, we are just a phone call away and these days we can link up via video in all sorts of ways can't we we can, So saying goodbye is most unnecessary.
And besides which, Alice Springs, although we are in the centre of Australia, that also means we are equidistant from every capital city in this great nation. So getting to Adelaide, which is where my friend is going, is not overly difficult. And I certainly will be heading that way at some time in the near future. So, no, I won't be saying goodbye. So, so unnecessary. It'll be more like best of luck in the new chapter of your life. Yeah, that's what it will be because goodbye is so sad, so definite and, as I said, so unnecessary. So that will, those words will not pass my lips.
But Alice Springs does test you in so many ways. And this is probably the way that it tests us out here the most. So it will be a very, very interesting experience where I will grow further and I will learn more about myself, and it will be a chance once again for self-development. It will be. Anyway, I'll let you know how it all goes.
This has been, folks, episode 1094, a Blind Magic Communications production.
