Episode 1036 Overcoming Challenges and Finding Motivation: A Day at the Track
Hi, everyone. Welcome, welcome. This is episode 1036, Blind Magic in Alice Springs, and I am your presenter and host, Murray Stewart.
Well, here I am outdoors. Yeah, the beautiful outdoors in Central Australia. I'm down at the athletics track. I'm just about to take one of my wonderful runners, Harry Mirchak, through his paces over 1,500 meters. Yes, as you've well, as you know, if you've been listening to some of these episodes, he is an up and coming middle distance runner. So middle distance running is what we're going to be doing this afternoon.
So, I have had my challenges in recent times, as you know, and not to keep repeating doom and gloom stories, but I have had a couple of strokes over the last couple of years and that has resulted in my own challenges. In recent times, I've had some seizures as a result of the brain injuries. Yes. And therefore, my neurologist has increased my anti-seizure medication by double.
So I reached a juncture today where I thought, you know what? Get up, get up, get up, fight and meet this challenge. Because when you do adjust such medication, you can start to feel very tired. And therefore, your motivation can be lowered. I decided today to declare war against my lack of motivation and that's why I'm down at the track if you're going through a similar situation then yeah it's time to recalibrate it's time to be extremely positive about the fact that you do have a challenge because the fact that you have a challenge means that you are very much alive and that's the way I'm viewing things every day of my life, as I said, is an absolute bonus. I'm loving it.
But I was getting frustrated with my tiredness. So this afternoon, I said to myself, get down to the track, help this wonderful young athlete out, get out in the sun and experience the wonderful glory that is the outdoors in in Central Australia. And in doing so, that will give me more energy and more vitality to continue my battle against the upping of the medication. And as I do that, my body will adjust and eventually I'll be well and truly back on track, folks. Yeah, that's the aim. And the aim I shall regard as my mission and the mission I will win. I will. I will absolutely win.
All right, folks, this has been episode 1036 of Blind Magic Communications production.
