Episode 1040 Building Connections: Carpet Bowls in Alice Springs
Welcome to episode 1040 of Blind Magic in Alice Springs, hosted by Murray Stewart. In this episode, Murray tackles the pressing issue of loneliness, which contributes to various mental health problems like anxiety and depression.
Despite living alone, Murray doesn't feel lonely. However, he acknowledges that many people do struggle with isolation. To address this, he's decided to create a community group in Alice Springs, tentatively named "Alice Connections" or "Connect Alice." The group will use Carpet Bowls as a fun and social activity to bring people together.
Carpet Bowls, similar to lawn bowls but played indoors on a carpet, offers a relaxed environment for mingling and forming connections. Murray emphasizes the importance of community and encourages others to build solutions when they see a need. Stay tuned for updates, and maybe even a podcast from their first session!
